Job Description
Boat Captain – Qualification Summary (5–7 Years Experience, Internationally Certified)
- Education: Diploma or degree in Marine Navigation, Nautical Science, or Maritime Operations.
- Experience: 5–7 years commanding small to mid-sized vessels in coastal, inland, or international waters.
- Certifications:
- Valid STCW certification (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping)
- International Boat Operator License or equivalent national/international endorsement
- Certified in GMDSS, Bridge Resource Management, and Marine Safety Procedures
- Skills:
- Fluent in English with strong leadership, navigation, and emergency response capabilities
- Proficient in voyage planning, vessel handling, crew supervision, and passenger safety
- Skilled in using GPS, radar, AIS, and marine communication systems
- Knowledgeable in international maritime regulations, weather routing, and port operations
- Responsibilities:
- Command vessel operations ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency
- Conduct pre-departure checks, safety drills, and crew briefings
- Navigate routes, monitor sea conditions, and manage onboard activities
- Maintain logs, certifications, and liaise with port authorities and regulatory bodies
